Are you new to distance learning at HCC? Take a moment to read the following.

Adding or Paying for Courses

You can register for courses by speaking with your advisor. If you cannot reach your advisor you may call Student Development Services at 828.627.4500.

You may pay for courses online using Haywired. Use Haywired for college email, to view college announcements, to see your transcripts and make payments, and for most other college services.

Login for the first time with your Blackboard username and your birthday as mmddyy for your password. (If you have previously used Campus Cruiser, your password will be your old Campus Cruiser one.) If you have trouble using Haywired, please call 828.565.4006.

If you need help registering or paying for courses or have questions about related services such as financial aid, you may call Student Development Services at 828.627.4500.

Withdrawing from Courses

Students may withdraw from courses by speaking with the instructor of their course and requesting to be withdrawn officially or by calling Student Development Services at 828.627.4500.

Your Student Email Address

When you register for a course at HCC, you are provided with a student email account. Your email address will be your username @haywood.mailcruiser.com

You will access your email through Haywired. Login for the first time with your Blackboard username and your birthday as mmddyy for your password. (If you have previously used Campus Cruiser, your password will be your old Campus Cruiser one.) If you have trouble using Haywired, please call 828.565.4006.

Please note that username and password are both case sensitive!

Your instructors will expect you to check your Haywired email address on a regular basis, so be sure to login to your college email every day or two so that you don't miss important announcements.

Purchasing Books Online

You may purchase textbooks through the HCC bookstore online. If you go to the Bookstore home page, you may follow the "Buy Your Books Online" link (at the top of the page) to determine what books you need for a course and to purchase them online if you wish to do so.

You will have to view and agree to the Returns Policy before using this service.

Distance Learning Help

If you have questions about course content or specific course policies, you will need to speak with your instructor. However, if you have questions about Distance Learning in general or need help with technical difficulties, you may call 828.627.4619 or email dl@haywood.edu or visit the Help Desk web site.

Beginning Your Online Courses

If you are taking a course for college credit, you will login through Blackboard. Click here when you're ready to login and then choose "User Login." For assistance with Blackboard, please email dl@haywood.edu or call 828.627.4619.

If you are taking a Continuing Education course sponsored by your employer, you will probably login thorough Trinity. Click here when you're ready to login. For assistance with Trinity or other Continuing Education issues, please call 828.627.4643.

If you are taking a Continuing Education course paid for by yourself, you will probably login thorough Ed2Go. Click here when you're ready to login and then select your course from the "Courses" link at the top. For assistance with Ed2Go or other Continuing Education issues, please call 828.627.4643.

Once you login through one of the links above, click on the name of your course and carefully read the announcements or instructions that you see there. Each online course is arranged differently depending on who is teaching it, but the instructions you see when you first enter that course should tell you what to do next.
